Milk Makeup is revolutionising the makeup industry by centering it on the consumer and their lifestyle. They continue to challenge the definition of beauty by providing innovative products to the market by starting with clean ingredients and turning those into effective formulas of easy-to-use, utilitarian makeup.
Within this project, my role was to design digital sustainability report, several social media posts, a printed postcard, and physical touchpoints while maintaining Milk Makeup’s branding. These pieces were created while adhering to the overarching theme of the company’s key goal of sustainability.
To begin this project, I extensively researched the target demographics and psychographics of Milk Makeup. Comparing and contrasting with competitors on the market, I took note of what design decisions appeared successful to create a mood board and began sketching my asset design ideas.
To convey the intended messaging of this project, the following consistent design decisions were chosen to reflect the pragmatic and clean feel of the brand:
- clean, vivid, and brightly-lit photography
- a limited but refreshing palette of greens and a mild off-white
- the use of a stable and geometric sans-serif typography
- thin and simple lines to divide content
Adobe InDesign was primarily utilised throughout this project to arrange the layouts of all the touchpoints within the project. Photoshop was used to edit and retouch images as needed, while Illustrator was used to create vector elements and to construct the dieline for the packaging boxes.
